Eric Yardley

Yardley spent seven years clawing his way up the ladder in the Padres organization, finally debuting in August of 2019. He posted a 2.31 ERA in his cup of coffee down the stretch only to be designated for assignment that November. The Brewers claimed Yardley off waivers and the side-armer went on to make 24 appearances in 2020. The results were stellar, with Yardley's 1.54 ERA ranking 16th among qualified relievers. He significantly outperformed his peripherals once again, but not every hurler pitches to their estimators, and Yardley's career .304 xwOBA on contact and 62.3 GB% bode well for continued success with a lot of weak contact on the ground. Strikeouts will probably never be a part of the package here, but Yardley will likely be entrusted with more important innings this season after he earned a lone hold in his first year in Milwaukee.
