2024 Tournament PreviewCreighton returns several key pieces from last year's Elite Eight team that fell to national runner-up San Diego State. The Bluejays feature a trio scorers averaging more than 17 points per game, led by 6-7 senior Baylor Scheierman (18.4 ppg, 9.0 rpg), who shoots 37.2 percent from the perimeter. Junior guard Trey Alexander (17.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 4.8 apg) and 7-1 senior Ryan Kalkbrenner (17.1 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 3.0 bpg) can both take over games. Utah State transfer Steven Ashworth (10.7 ppg, 4.2 apg) is a quality secondary option, even if a slight downgrade from Ryan Nembhard at point guard. It adds up to the 12th-ranked offense in the nation, per KenPom. The balanced Bluejays play solid defense too, ranking 24th. Both are impressive, considering Creighton is last in the nation in defensive turnover rate. That formula worked in the Big East and in wins against Alabama, Nebraska and Iowa. Experience alone should get Creighton to the second weekend.
