The loss of star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the NFL is definitely concern, but Parker (6-3, 209) still holds plenty of fantasy value as Louisville breaks in a new quarterback. Bridgewater's likely replacement, sophomore Will Gardner, performed well in a limited showing last year, completing 8-of-12 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Even if Gardner struggles a bit, it should be offset by a likely increase in targets for Parker now that Damian Copeland (58 receptions in 2013) is no longer on the team. Considering he has 28 career touchdowns on just 113 catches, Parker only needs about 40 catches to provide double-digit touchdowns.
Knock Parker down in the rankings a bit if it's consistency that you need, because Louisville is very deep at receiver with all of Parker, Eli Rogers, Damian Copeland and Michaelee Harris around. But the Cardinals should be very aggressive through the air as they attempt to play up quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as a Heisman candidate, and Parker is clearly the team's top playmaker at receiver. Parker's 58 career receptions have gone for 16 touchdowns, and he figures to push for the 60-catch mark after finishing 2012 with 24 catches for 407 yards and eight touchdowns in the final six weeks.
Parker is an explosive talent for Louisville who has a lot of big-play ability, but his value will probably be muted by Louisville’s ball-control offense, as well as the presences of fellow standout talents Michaelee Harris and Eli Rogers. Parker is still worth picking in Big East-only leagues, though, because he only needed 18 catches to total 291 yards and six touchdowns last year. That's a lot of explosiveness.
