Dowell announced Thursday via his personal Twitter account that he has decommitted from Pittsburgh and has re-entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

Citing "unforeseen circumstances," Dowell won't be attending Pittsburgh in 2022 after previously joining the program as a transfer from Michigan State. Since he secured his degree at Michigan State, he'll be able to compete right away at his next school with up to two years of eligibility to use. The hybrid safety/outside linebacker recorded 81 tackles and five pass breakups across four seasons with the Spartans.
