Evan McPherson

Evan McPherson

24-Year-Old KickerK
Cincinnati Bengals
2023 Fantasy Outlook
While his second pro season wasn't quite as good as his first, McPherson did more than enough to reprove himself as one of the league's top kickers. He went 9-for-14 from 40-49 yards and 5-for-5 from 50-plus, also ranking T-6th in PAT attempts (44) and seventh in PAT conversions (40). If anyone is to challenge Justin Tucker for the fantasy kicking throne, it'll likely be the 2021 fifth-round pick within his own division. McPherson hasn't been quite as reliable as Tucker from in close but has a sterling record from beyond 50 yards (14 of 16) and is attached to a more reliable offense in Cincinnati. Read Past Outlooks

McPherson made his lone field-goal attempt and all four extra-point tries in Sunday's 31-14 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
McPherson's lone FGA was good from 45 yards out near the end of the second quarter, helping give the Bengals a 24-0 lead heading into halftime. The Florida product finished his third season with 26 of 31 field goals made, good for an 84% conversion rate, with all five misses coming from 50-plus yards. He was also a perfect 40-for-40 on PATs. McPherson has one year remaining on his rookie contract and should return to the Bengals next season.

Could face further snap issues
KCincinnati Bengals
September 12, 2022
McPherson will be without Bengals long snapper Clark Harris for a significant amount of time due to a torn biceps, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Long snappers generally only attract attention when they make mistakes, and when Harris got injured Week 1, Cincinnati was forced to turn to tight end Mitchell Wilcox to fill his spot. Wilcox's inability to deliver consistent snaps led to two missed or blocked McPherson kicks in a game the Bengals lost in overtime. The team will sign rookie Cal Adomitis from the practice squad to be the new long snapper, but if he isn't ready for the job, the normally reliable McPherson could face further issues getting his field goal and point after attempts away clean.

2022
2021
McPherson came in as a fifth-round pick last year and excelled during the regular season, but it was his incredible work in the playoffs (14 of 14 on field goals) that truly solidified him as one of the NFL's top kickers. The Bengals may have an even better offense this year, and McPherson has earned the trust to get chances from long distance after leading the league with nine field goals of 50-plus yards last year.
McPherson was the lone kicker selected in this year's draft, going 149th overall (fifth round) after making 51 of 60 FGAs (85.0 percent) and 149 of 150 PATs (99.3 percent) in three seasons at Florida. He then won a summer job battle with Austin Seibert, a fifth-round pick himself a few years back (2019 to the Browns). McPherson's shot at fantasy value in Cincinnati likely requires QB Joe Burrow to come back healthy and strong.
