Jason Bohn

Bohn has spent most of his time on the PGA Tour in the low-$1 million range or sub-$1 million range, but one strange pattern has revealed itself since he joined the PGA Tour in 2004. Every time he finished the season over the $1 million mark, he backed it up with another $1 million season. This is mentioned because he topped the $1 million mark last year, but the year prior he was sub-$1 million. In other words, if the pattern holds, he'll again be above $1 million this season. The issue of course is that he's never reached the $2 million mark, so his upside is limited. In draft leagues he should go around the 7th or 8th round.

Bohn has made over $11 million during his golf career, but he hasn't has a really solid season since 2010. The strange thing about Bohn is, he's already earned $859k during the 2013-2014 season. That could be a sign of things to come, but it's more likely that he's already played his best golf of the season before the 2014 portion starts. With that in mind, it doesn't seem likely that he'll earn enough money this season to justify his selection in a salary cap league. In drafts he should go in the 90-100 range.

Bohn teed it up 28 times last season and produced only four top-25s; he also missed 13 cuts. Fortunately for Bohn, he turned one of those top-25s into something more - a runner-up at the True South Classic. The bad news, of course, is that Bohn was all over the place last season. He in no way resembled the golfer who earned nearly $2 million in 2010. Although he's just two years removed from that season, he's really struggled to find that form the last two years. The upside might still be there, but considering he pulled in only $400K in 2011, the risk is too high. He might be worth considering late in a draft league, however.

Bohn had a terrible 2011 season, but he's exempt for the upcoming season due to his win at the Zurich Classic in 2010. Due in part to that victory, Bohn earned $1.9 million in 2010. That's probably as good as it's going to get for Bohn.

Finally healthy, Bohn showed what he's capable of in 2010 when he earned nearly $2 million, including a victory at the Zurich Classic. However, outside his win at the Zurich Classic, Bohn failed to accomplish much of anything. Perhaps it was a hangover from his first win in five years, but whatever the case, don't be too worried about his erratic play last season. Although his results were all over the board, his stats certainly weren't. He ranked in the top 50 on the PGA TOUR in both putting and driving accuracy. The previous season he ranked in the top 10 in GIR.

Bohn was in a groove back in 2005-2006, but injuries slowed his progress and he's just now getting back on track. Last season was a good start to his comeback, but considering his peak was about $1.8 million prior to his injury, his upside is limited. That said, he should improve slightly on his numbers from last season.

Bohn has had more trouble off the course than on the course over the last couple years. He can't seem to stay healthy. Last season he was playing under a medical extension from the previous year when back issues arose. There's no question that he will improve upon his 2008 number, if he's healthy. That's the question though. Can he stay healthy?

Bohn had herniated disc surgery in early July. He is targeted to retrun to action at the Wyndham Championship, August 14.

Bohn was fairly consistent in 2006. After a rough couple months to start the year, he racked up 14 consecutive cuts from March through July. On the downside, during that stretch he failed to finish higher than eighth. Bohn actually did not earn a top-5 until October when he finished runner-up at the Chrysler Classic. Bohn has proven he can close as he ended with first-, second- and third-place finishes in 2005. One look at his stats and it's easy to see where he went wrong last year. He ranked 148th in putting compared to 68th in 2005. It seems reasonable he could improve on the rank of 148 in 2007. If so, he will end up with a few more top-5s.

Bohn struggled out of the gate in 2005, but turned his season around with a win at the B.C. Open. The win was certainly a surprise as he was coming off a stretch where he missed the cut in seven of his previous nine events. He carried the momentum of that win into the fall season where he picked up a second- and third-place finish. His fall success, as well as the win at the B.C. Open, are cause for skepticism. His play during the heart of the PGA tour season was abysmal, the B.C. Open not withstanding. $1.8 million is a little too high for Bohn this year. The win and the late-season success has him a little over-valued.
