FanDuel NHL: Saturday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

The featured contests at FanDuel consist of the 10 evening games beginning at 7 p.m. EDT. It's a fairly balanced slate with the Islanders, Canadiens, Devils and Blues the only significant favorites. It's also important to note the Sabres, Maple Leafs and Kings are all playing their second road game in consecutive nights.

GOALIES

Ilya Sorokin, NYI at ARI ($8,400): The Coyotes have only scored eight goals through four games and are still searching for their first win of the season. The Islanders enter as significant favorites and waiting for the doormat matchup to right their 1-2-1 start. Sorokin's also been better of late stopping 68 of 72 shots through his past two starts.

Jordan Binnington, STL vs. LA ($7,500): The Kings lost to Dallas in overtime on Friday, and they'll be potentially playing their third consecutive road game - and second in consecutive nights - without their No. 1 defenseman after Drew Doughty (lower body) left last night's contest. Binnington, meanwhile, is coming off an impressive 42-save, 3-1 win over the Golden Knights to improve to 3-0.

Scott Wedgewood, NJ vs. BUF ($7,400): With a .901 save percentage and 3.10 GAA through 41 career appearances, Wedgewood should be viewed as a risky start Saturday. However, Buffalo lost 4-1 Friday and probably should be viewed as a vulnerable opponent considering their underwhelming roster alongside New Jersey being listed as a significant favorite.

VALUE PLAYS

Brendan Gallagher, MON vs. DET ($5,100): With the Habs eyeing an 0-6 start, look for Gallagher to have a solid showing. He's recorded 24 shot attempts and eight high-danger scoring chances through five games and the veteran is projected to skate on both the No. 1 line and power-play unit.

Jordan Kyrou, STL vs. LA ($4,900): The CHL scoring star is finally receiving favorable looks at the highest level and has racked up two tallies and five helpers through three appearances. As noted, the Kings are travelling to play their second road game in as many nights, and Kyrou's salary hasn't caught up to his hot start.

Owen Tippett, FLA at PHI ($3,400): Not much for the 2017 first-round selection, though Tippett highlighted his upside to finish last season with three goals, seven assists, 33 shots, 54 attempts and 11 high-danger scoring chances through his final 12 games, including the playoffs. After allowing 3.52 goals per game last year, the Flyers shouldn't be considered a matchup to fade just yet.

LINE STACKS

Islanders at Coyotes

Anders Lee (W - $5,200), Mathew Barzal (C - $6,400), Kyle Palmieri (W - $4,400)

An affordable stack skating together at even strength and with the man advantage, Barzal, Lee and Palmieri have generated a high-end 18.38 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes to start the year but combined to score just three goals with an underwhelming 6.7 team shooting percentage while sharing the ice. This is also a great matchup with Arizona allowing 22 goals through its first four.

Hurricanes at Blue Jackets

Andrei Svechnikov (W - $8,300), Vincent Trocheck (C - $5,400), Martin Necas (W - $5,400)

Trocheck and Svechnikov have clicked for an incredible 7.54 goals and 20.18 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes dating back to last season, and Necas has produced an impressive 43 points, 198 shot attempts and 47 individual high-danger scoring chances through 56 games during the same timeframe. It all adds up to a dangerous line that shouldn't face Columbus' top defensive matchup while also providing coverage to both Carolina power-play units.

DEFENSEMEN

Tony DeAngelo, CAR at CBJ ($4,900): Currently being utilized in a favorable offensive role with 3:48 of power-play time per game and 72.7 percent of his five-on-five shifts beginning in the opponent's zone, DeAngelo represents a mid-salary target to keep in mind. He's quarterbacking the No. 1 unit with the man advantage and has recorded three assists through three contests.

Jeff Petry, MON vs. DET ($4,600): With at least 40 points in each of the previous four seasons, Petry is a breakout candidate Saturday after going the first five games without a point. He's also a cross-category contributor who quarterbacks Montreal's No. 1 power-play.

Rasmus Sandin, TOR at PIT ($3,500): At minimum salary, Sandin is a potential flyer to fill out lineups. He's been on the ice for 32 high-danger scoring chances through five appearances to pace all Toronto blueliners and also quarterbacks the No. 2 power-play.
