Alex Formenton

Formenton spent the entire 2019-20 season with AHL Belleville, where he assembled a stellar 27 goals and 26 assists in 61 appearances. The 21-year-old is a swift skater, so he should get plenty of chances in the NHL, and he'll be one of many competing for a job in training camp. However, the Senators' addition of Tim Stuetzle and Alex Galchenyuk in the offseason has crowded their left wing depth chart, which means Formenton will likely be limited to bottom-six duties if he can make the Opening Night roster. There's little doubt to his scoring touch, as the second-round pick from 2017 has had no trouble stuffing the box score at each level in his career, but he may still be a year away from making an impact with the big club.

Formenton is probably still at least one season away from making a significant impact at the highest level, but he's already received a small taste of the NHL, posting one goal in nine games with the Senators last year. The 2017 second-round pick spent the majority of the 2018-19 campaign in the OHL, racking up 13 goals and 34 points in 31 games. Formenton is worth a stash in dynasty formats, but there's no reason for fantasy owners in yearly leagues to spend a pick on him this season.

Formenton has shown plenty of promise at the junior level, scoring 29 goals for the OHL's London Knights last year. But at the moment, he's still a few years away from being able to compete at the NHL level, and while he's had a cup of coffee with the Senators, the organization is likely to return him to London for one more season -- Forementon's AHL eligibility is limited to two or fewer games. Grab him if he's available in a dynasty league, but don't bother for season-long formats.
