Takes war at UFC 300
Light HeavyweightUFC
April 13, 2024
Prochazka defeated Aleksandar Rakic via TKO (strikes) at 3:17 of Round 2 at UFC 300 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Prochazka is an absolute wild man inside the Octagon, and that's meant in the most positive of terms. Fresh off a loss to Alex Pereira in a title fight last November, Jiri looked truly awful the first seven-plus minutes. He got battered with countless leg kicks and was hobbling around. Yet, as we have seen from Prochazka over and over, he continues to push forward with little regard for his own safety. He eventually crumbled against Pereira, but flipped the script against Rakic. One huge blitz halfway through Round 2 put Aleksandar on his heels before the stoppage eventually materialized. Prochazka is a blast to watch and his power is insane, but it's hard to believe he's going to run off any sort of prolonged winning streak against elite competition unless he cleans up his defense. That at least paid off here, as he'll take home a massive $300,000 bonus for Performance of the Night honors.

Prochazka is scheduled to face Aleksandar Rakic in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 300 in Las Vegas on April 13, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Prokchazka has drawn Rakic for his next bout in what figures to be a massively anticipated showdown. The 31-year-old fighter, who was most recently taken down by Alex Pereira in November, will look to get back on track in April of 2024.
Unable to regain 205-pound gold
Light HeavyweightUFC
November 11, 2023
Prochazka came up short in his quest to regain the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on Saturday, falling to Alex Pereira via knockout (punches) at 4:08 of Round 2 at UFC 295 in New York City.
ANALYSIS
We last saw Prochazka in June 2022. He defeated Glover Teixeira that night to win the 205-pound title before later being forced to vacate the belt due to a shoulder injury. He got another chance here against Pereira in a pick 'em fight and came up just short. Jiri struggled throughout the course of the bout with the low kicks of Alex. They left him hobbled and unable to push off on one leg. He responded with a nice takedown in Round 1 and still managed to generate plenty of offensive pressure early in Round 2, but he got clocked during an exchange along the fence that left him in all sorts of trouble. Prochazka eventually dropped to the mat clearly in distress, at which point referee Marc Goddard stepped in. Goddard is one of the best in the business and has been for years, but it felt like a bit of an early stoppage. Jiri didn't protest much, however, and told Joe Rogan in his post-fight interview he thought it was a valid stoppage. A class act all the way, Jiri is going to remain in title contention at 205 pounds for the foreseeable future.

Prochazka (shoulder) is scheduled to face Alex Pereira in a light heavyweight title fight at UFC 295 in New York on Nov. 11, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Prochazka was scratched from his last bout in November 2022 due to a severe shoulder, but he'll be back in the Octagon a year later with a title on the line. The 30-year-old Prochazka owns a perfect 4-0 record in the UFC.
Suffers serious shoulder injury

Prochazka has been removed from UFC 282 due to a severe shoulder injury, Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Prochazka could miss up to a full year due to the shoulder injury, per Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com, but the specifics of a return timetable remain unclear. Glover Teixeira has turned down the title fight, leaving Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev as the new main event for UCF 282.
Will look to defend in December
Light HeavyweightUFC
August 11, 2022
Prochazka will look to defend the UFC Light Heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 282 on Dec. 10, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prochazka was likely to drop the decision back in June to Teixeira, but with less than 30 seconds remaining he was able to force a submission and become the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. It was a back and forth brawl and it will be exciting to see how both of these fighters come back for the rematch in December. Prochazka holds a perfect 4-0 mark in the UFC and if he were to defeat Teixiera twice in a row, he is in position to rule the 205-pound division for years to come at just age 29.
