Will fight Mullarkey

ANALYSIS
Now 38 years old, Makdessi last fought back in September of 2022, losing to Nasrat Haqparast via unanimous decision. At this late stage of his career, Makdessi is typically doing one fight per year, and he'll be seeking redemption after dropping two of his last three fights. Defeating Mullarkey will be no easy task, however, as Mullarkey has a lot to prove after his shock defeat to Muhammadjon Naimov back in June of 2023.

In what was primarily a kickboxing match, Makdessi struggled with the hand speed of Haqparast. John actually won the total strike battle by a 73-72 count, but there was zero doubt which man landed the more impactful shots throughout the duration of the bout. The Canadian has rarely fought of late, competing exactly once every year since 2017. His record in those six bouts is 4-2, although "The Bull" has dropped two of his last three.

That suspension has since ended, so he'll step back into the Octagon to try to pick up a win against a fighter 10 years his junior. Haqparast is coming off a unanimous-decision loss against Dan Hooker in September but had won five out of six fights prior to that setback.
