Jazz and Timberwolves Poised for Conference Battle
The Utah Jazz takes on the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center on Wednesday night.

The Jazz (16-7) have had some ups and downs thus far this season, but they'll come into Wednesday's game on a positive note after having rattled off four straight wins. Their most recent success came Sunday afternoon, when they edged the Cleveland Cavaliers by a 109-108 score. Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz with 35 points, complementing them with six assists, three rebounds and one steal. Bojan Bogdanovic totaled 16 points, while Rudy Gay posted 15 points and eight boards. Royce O'Neale managed 12 points, six rebounds and two assists. Mike Conley went for 11 points, six assists, two rebounds and four steals.

The Jazz will list Hassan Whiteside (groin) as questionable for Wednesday's contest.

The Timberwolves (11-13) had recently appeared to turn their season around with a strong multi-game stretch of play, but they'll come into Wednesday on a downswing in the form of three straight losses. Their most recent stumble came Monday night, when they fell to the Atlanta Hawks by a 121-110 score. Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with a 31-point, 16-rebound double-double that included six assists. Malik Beasley turned in 24 points, five rebounds and three assists. Anthony Edwards registered 20 points, seven assists, one rebound, three blocks and two steals. Naz Reid managed 10 points and four boards.

The Timberwolves will list D'Angelo Russell (ankle) as doubtful for Wednesday's game, while Patrick Beverley (groin) will be listed as questionable. Towns (back) will carry the same designation as Beverley.

Wednesday's game marks the first of four meetings between the teams this season. The Timberwolves swept the 2020-21 season series from the Jazz.
