Rockets Pull Huge Upset With Win Over Nets
The Houston Rockets defeated the Brooklyn Nets, 114-104, at Toyota Center on Wednesday night.

The Rockets (7-16) recorded what will probably end up as one of their biggest wins of the season Wednesday when they delivered an impressive performance against the Nets (17-7) in front of their own crowd. Houston quickly grabbed control of the contest and recorded a 30-23 lead following the first quarter, but they pulled away for good in the second quarter after a 37-29 score. Houston didn’t step the foot off the gas and won the third quarter by a 23-21 score as well, meaning the game was all but over with 12 minutes left on the clock thanks to a 17-point lead. Brooklyn won the fourth quarter by a 31-24 score, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback and the Rockets secured a massive victory.

Eric Gordon was the leading scorer for the Rockets with 21 points, while Garrison Mathews notched 19 points and three steals. Christian Wood had a massive double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds while also adding three blocks, and Armoni Brooks ended with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Jae’sean Tate posted 10 points and five assists. Houston shot 49.4 percent from the field.

James Harden finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and two steals, but he also committed eight turnovers. Patty Mills had 12 points, and those two were the only Brooklyn starters that scored in double digits. Cam Thomas had 18 points off the bench, while Paul Millsap contributed 10 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench too. The Nets shot 39.3 percent from the field.
