Lakers Defeat Celtics, 117-102
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the visiting Boston Celtics, 117-102, at Staples Center on Tuesday.

While there were seven ties and 11 lead changes in the first half, Los Angeles rode a 29-22 second quarter to their victory. That allowed the Lakers to hold the lead for the entirety of the second half, putting the game to bed behind a 31-20 third quarter. Los Angeles was able to get their lead up to 20 points at times. The Lakers shot 52 percent from the field while holding the Celtics below 44 percent shooting. In addition, Los Angeles out-rebounded Boston, 51-34, while outscoring them in the paint, 66-42. They also tripled them up in second-chance points, 18-6.

The Celtics (13-12) were led by Jayson Tatum, tallying 34 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Robert Williams amassed 13 points and four boards. Marcus Smart collected six points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals. Josh Richardson led the bench with 11 points and two assists.

The Lakers (13-12) were led by LeBron James and his 30 points, four rebounds and five assists. Russell Westbrook registered 24 points, three rebounds and 11 assists. Anthony Davis accumulated 17 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Talen Horton-Tucker totaled 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Boston has to play the second half of a back-to-back set on Wednesday, facing the Clippers in LA. As for the Lakers, they return to action on Thursday in a road matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies.
