Hornets Topple 76ers, 109-98
The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 109-98, at Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.

The Hornets (23-19) came into the contest looking to build on a three-game winning streak, but the 76ers (23-17) were shooting for their eighth straight victory and were just a bit better in the first quarter, emerging with a 35-34 lead. However, Charlotte changed the dynamic of the contest for good in the second quarter, outscoring Philadelphia by a 30-15 margin to take a 14-point advantage into halftime. The hosts did manage to put a five-point dent in their deficit during the third quarter, but the cushion they'd built proved enough to still provide a double-digit win.

Gordon Hayward led the Hornets with 30 points, adding seven assists, four rebounds and three steals. Terry Rozier followed with 22 points, complementing them with four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Miles Bridges supplied 21 points, eight boards, two assists, two blocks and one steal. LaMelo Ball totaled 13 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and one steal. Cody Martin poured in 11 points off the bench.

Joel Embiid paced the 76ers with 31 points, supplementing them with six rebounds, three assists and one block. Tobias Harris registered 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one steal. Furkan Korkmaz delivered 14 points. Tyrese Maxey and Seth Curry generated matching 10-point, three-rebound, three-assist tallies.

The Hornets return home to host the Orlando Magic on Friday night, while the 76ers welcome in the Boston Celtics on Friday night as well.
