Spurs Use Strong Fourth Quarter To Secure Home Win
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the visiting New Orleans Pelicans 112-97, at AT&T Center on Sunday evening.

The contest got out to a tight start, as the Spurs led by two, after one quarter. The score stayed close through the second, where both teams tallied 26 points, and the Spurs maintained their two-point edge, at halftime. The Spurs came out strong in the third and opened up a seven-point advantage, but the Pelicans rallied back to make it a one-point game heading into the final frame. The hosts took over the fourth, where they charged to an 11-point lead in the first few minutes and held control the rest of the way, for the home win.

Jakob Poeltl totaled 24 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block, while Derrick White finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, four steals and a block, to lead the way for the Spurs. Dejounte Murray logged a triple-double, with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals. The Spurs shot 49.5 percent from the field, including 7-of-25 from deep.

Meanwhile, Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 27 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and a steal, in 39 minutes. Jonas Valanciunas added 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and a block, while Josh Hart finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. The Pelicans shot 43 percent from the field, including 8-of-29 from long range.

The Pelicans (8-21) will look to bounce back as they take on the Thunder in OKC on Wednesday. The Spurs (10-16) play host to the Hornets on Wednesday.
