The Houston Rockets defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 132-126, at State Farm Arena on Monday night.

The Rockets (9-18) had recently rattled off an impressive seven-game winning streak that caught league by surprise, but Houston came into Monday's interconference showdown having dropped two straight contests and potentially set to go on another extended stretch of futility. That seemed to be case early, as the Hawks (13-14) compiled 69 first-half points on their way to an 11-point lead at intermission. When Atlanta added another two points to its advantage in the third quarter, the game seemed well in hand. However, Houston ultimately roared back with stellar play on both ends of the floor over the final 12 minutes, outscoring the hosts by a 44-25 margin and going on a 31-17 run in the final 7:28 specifically for the narrow comeback victory.

Eric Gordon led the way for the Rockets with 32 points, complementing them with three rebounds, three assists and one steal. D.J. Augustin followed with 22 points, two boards and one assist. Jae'Sean Tate delivered 15 points, four assists, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Kenyon Martin Jr. supplied 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and one block. Christian Wood registered 12 points, five boards, three assists and one steal. Alperen Sengun and David Nwaba posted 11 and 10 points, respectively, while pulling down six rebounds.

Trae Young paced the Hawks with 41 points, supplementing them with nine assists, four rebounds and one steal. John Collins went for 14 points, seven rebounds and one block. Clint Capela generated a 12-point, 16-rebound double-double that included one assist, two blocks and one steal. Danilo Gallinari and Cam Reddish offered matching 12-points, two-rebound efforts, while Lou Williams matched his teammates' scoring totals and also dished out two assists.

The Rockets stay on the road and visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night, while the Hawks visit the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night as well.
